Calorithm — Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 28, 2026

Quick Summary

Calorithm is a calorie and nutrition tracking app for iOS. We collect and process only the data needed to analyze the meals you submit, keep your log, operate purchases, secure the Service, diagnose problems, and understand app performance. You do not need to create a named account. When you photograph a meal, that image and your instructions are securely transmitted through our Google Firebase infrastructure to OpenAI, which returns an estimated nutrition breakdown. If you choose to connect Apple Health, we read and write nutrition data through Apple's HealthKit only with your permission. Apple Health data is never sent to our AI, analytics, or attribution providers. If you choose to post to the community feed, the content you post is public. We do not sell your personal data.

1) Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Calorithm iOS app and related in-app services, which we refer to as the “Service.” It explains what we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have. Calorithm is operated by NUNE LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.

2) Meal Photos and AI Analysis

Calorithm accesses only the photo you capture in the app or choose through Apple's photo picker. When you submit a meal for analysis, you request and consent to cloud AI processing of that photo. Calorithm sends the selected image, any metadata contained in the submitted image file, and any description, portion detail, or correction you enter to our Firebase-hosted processing service.

Our processing service sends this data to OpenAI, provided by OpenAI, L.L.C., which analyzes the image and returns an estimated identification of the food and its nutrition values. OpenAI processes this data through its API as our service provider.

The returned analysis is saved to your meal log so you can review and edit it. Calorithm does not publish your meal photos or logs to anyone else unless you choose to post them to the community feed. Our AI provider may temporarily retain submitted images, prompts, and technical logs as explained in Section 8.

Nutrition estimates produced by AI are approximations and may be inaccurate. Calorithm does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical, dietary, or nutritional advice.

3) Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you grant permission, Calorithm may:

Health data accessed through Apple's HealthKit framework is handled under Apple's rules and ours:

You control every Health permission and can review or revoke access at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health. Revoking access stops future reading and writing; entries already written to Apple Health remain there until you delete them in the Health app.

4) Community Features

Calorithm includes an optional community area. If you choose to post a meal, photo, caption, or similar content, that content and any display name or avatar you choose are stored in Google Firebase and are visible to other users of the Service. Do not post anything you would not want to be public, and do not post photos of other people without their permission.

You can delete your own posts from within the app. Copies may persist briefly in backups, caches, or logs, and other users may already have viewed, saved, or screenshotted content while it was public. We may remove content that violates our Terms of Use.

Participation in the community is optional. If you never post, no meal photo or log entry of yours is made visible to other users.

5) Data We Collect

We may collect or process the following categories of data:

We do not require you to create a named account or provide a name, email address, or password to use the app. We do not intentionally collect contacts, precise GPS location, or browsing history outside the app. Calorithm uses Apple's system photo picker so you can select a photo without granting full photo-library access. Camera, photo-library, and Health permissions remain controlled by Apple settings.

6) How We Use Data

We use data to:

We do not use submitted photos or Apple Health data for advertising, facial recognition, identity verification, or decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

7) Service Providers and Data Sharing

We share data only as needed to provide and support the Service. The providers below process data on our behalf or provide services requested through the app:

We select and require service providers that maintain privacy and security protections that are the same as or equivalent to the protections described in this Policy and required by applicable law. Providers may use subprocessors under their applicable terms. We do not authorize our analytics or attribution providers to receive meal photos or Apple Health data, and we do not sell or rent personal data.

8) Retention and Deletion

You can withdraw consent for future AI meal analysis by not submitting another photo, and you can withdraw Health access at any time in iOS Settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already completed. You may also contact us at contact@nunellc.com to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we can reasonably identify. Because Calorithm uses an anonymous identifier rather than a named account, we may ask for information needed to locate and verify the relevant records.

9) Analytics, Attribution, and Tracking

Calorithm uses PostHog to understand product usage and AppsFlyer to measure installs and marketing attribution. These services may process app events, device information, identifiers, IP addresses, and purchase or subscription events. They do not receive the meal photos you submit or any Apple Health data.

We do not sell personal data. Where Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework or applicable law requires permission for tracking across apps or websites owned by other companies, Calorithm requests that permission. You can change tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings.

10) Security and International Processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encrypted network connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those in your location. Where required, providers rely on recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual protections.

11) Children

Calorithm is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has provided personal data to Calorithm, contact us at contact@nunellc.com and we will take appropriate action.

12) Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, deletion, correction, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. To exercise rights, contact us at contact@nunellc.com. Because Calorithm does not require accounts, we may need limited information to verify and process your request.

13) Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you by reasonable means, such as through the app or by updating the “Last Updated” date.
